| Sept:2004 Fishing on the Lochs this month has been hampered by the high water levels but the water has started to give results in the rivers more in a minute. The Kincarra Cup was fished recently on the last week of September/first week of October. The first leg was fished at Tangy Loch with Carradale club winning with a 6lb basket of Brownies, Kintyre had a 31/2 lb basket. The return leg was fished at the Lussa Loch where both clubs tied with a basket of 2lbs 2oz. Carradale winners on aggregate. Special mention must go to David Shaw of Carradale on best individual basket at Tangy and to Junior Angler R.MaCaulay with best fish at Lussa Loch. Auchalochy wasn't fishing to bad with the weed usually present at this time of the year being further out in the loch due to high water level. The first significant Salmon catches were recorded in the first week of October. These are as follows: Carradale Water: A fine salmon of 14lb was caught on the spinner by Carradale angler Jan Muhammid at the end of the first week of October, the feat is even better considering Jan was using an 8lb cast! well done Jan Connieglen:Again at the end of the fisrt week of October Kintyre anlglers had a few salmon. Reid Anderson had a 6lb salmon. Jamie O'May managed a 5 1/2 lb Salmon from the manse pool. David Laing had a 6lb Salmon also mentioned was another Salmon but the anglers name wasn't given. Yours truly was fishing in amongst this lot and never had a touch! Backswater: Local angler Malcolm Mceachran had a salmon of 5 lbs this added to the one caught a few weeks back at 3lb making a good season for Malcolm. Also Malcolm had a few sea trout in September upto 1 1/2 lbs. Time now to put the trout gear away a tackle up for a silver tourist! |
