Kintyre has an abundance of Lochs, at present they aren't all accessible by the public. For some you will need permission from the Forestry commission, for others you will need the permission of the farmer whose land they are on.

The Lochs listed on this website are all fishable by the public with a permit.More lochs will be added as I gather more information.

Although you won't be fishing for a British record trout, a few of the Lochs can throw up a nice surprise now and again. A couple have been stocked with Brown & Rainbow and these are tenacious fighters. All the Lochs have a good supply of hard fighting wild Scottish brown trout with the exception of Crosshill loch which has an unplanned stock of pike.

Fishing on most of these lochs is fly only, there are a few exceptions and these are mentioned on the lochs own page.

As each Loch is run by different clubs/organizations they have different rules to abide by, these will be stated on your permit or club card, but here are a few general points anglers could remember.

  • Always be courteous to other anglers, after all they are out to enjoy a days fishing as much as you are.
  • If fishing from a boat keep a good distance from a shore angler and never cut through another boats drift.
  • Never be greedy with fishing, only keep as many as you need & not as many as will impress others.
  • Help any new anglers, we all had to learn ourselves once.
  • Never leave any litter or discarded nylon.
  • Always let someone know where you are fishing.
